Charities

Charities today carry a great deal of information which needs to be protected.

Not only do they have information about their many generous donors but also, in many cases about the people they are there to protect.

This last data set is the most concerning since it will often contain data which is classed by the Information Commissioner as ‘Sensitive Data’ and can contain the following:

  • race;
  • ethnic origin;
  • political opinions;
  • religious or philosophical beliefs;
  • trade union membership;
  • genetic data;
  • biometric data (where this is used for identification purposes);
  • health data;
  • sex life; or
  • sexual orientation.
